The most common misunderstanding regarding writers' society is that they must create original material. Yes, a writer's main objective is to come up with something different every time he lifts his pen, but that doesn't mean you can't write something that has already been written. You may take someone else's material and rewrite it with your own words, using your own ideas and opinions. You can bring something new to light that was already published in the original material and combine them.
Another myth about that right is that it takes a long time. This perception isn't entirely false; authors do need a lot of time to think about new stories and concepts, but it's not absolutely necessary; if you like, you can plan your writing time, and if you're having trouble doing so, you can enrol in a writing class to improve your writing and save time. Reading and rewriting your own material until you're comfortable with the outcome is the perfect way to improve your writing skills.
