The story I am going to recite you
today the start in the year 1929 where there was a boy name Sukhi he was born in a small village in 1902 in the household of a moneylender Sukhi was a very generous boy he wholeheartedly works whether it was studies, sports, aiding his father in work, assistant his friend even if he gets beating from his father for that work he used to stick up to it
When Sukhi was only 14 years old Kishen Kukurram ji who lived in front of his house hanged himself due to haemorrhoids which was found out because of a custom of the same village that if someone commits suicide, then he has to write an suicide letter and reveal the reason for his death in it.
After 4 years of this incident Sukhi's studies were completed, and he now used to manage the business of money lending along with his father
It was in year 1924 that Sukhi and his brothers and sisters were married and Sukhi had an argument with his father over the rate of interest, and he starts his money lending business and lend money to people at less interest than is his father. Sukhi's years similarly passed, meanwhile Sukhi also had three children and Sukhi also writes letter aside from his money lending business because apart from him and his family no one else in the village is literate.
The economic closure that started in America had spread its feet in India as well, most of the villages had also come under British rule, which caused Sukhi's father to suffer a great loss, and he died after consuming poison. And in the suicide letter, the financial crisis and the loss caused by Sukhi were described as the reason of suicide. When Sukhi came to know about this, he broke down inside, and he also decided to commit suicide. He wrote the same thing in his suicide letter, when he started reading his letter for the last time, he thought if the villagers came to know about it. So, what would they think that “what kind of pagi is he”, did not even think about his children and gave his life? Thinking that Sukhi did not commit suicide.
After some time, the British army also captured the village of Sukhi, it is a matter of one night that Sukhi was going to hide the remaining money when some British people caught him and snatched his money and also cut his moustache to insult Sukhi, could not able bear this humiliation Sukhi again went on to commit suicide then he raised “kim” to write a suicide letter but thought that only I know this thing now, if I did this, then the villagers would not respect him or his children either, thinking that he gave up the big intention to commit suicide.
Then, after some time, all of his children became of worthy marriage and he married off his eldest daughter and younger son.
Meanwhile, his youngest daughter fell in love with a British officer and got married. When Sukhi came to know about this, he decided to suicide in the fear of being of humiliated by the villagers, and wrote all his thought in his suicide letter. And went towards his fields with rope to hang himself and reached near the “jamun tree” in his field, where he sees the same British officer, with whose son his daughter runs away, he sees that the British officer also has a rope in his hand.
After seeing this Sukhi, asked him: Why are you going to commit suicide? Then that officer says that my company has fired me. And I have also been insulted in front of everyone, I am very broken and that's why I want to die.
Hearing this Sukhi says, officer, you will get your job after some time and if you are insulted, then those people will also forget with time. But if you die then people will look at you like an idiot and your son will feel the responsibility of your death, The officer understands this, and he backs down from the matter of giving up his life.
The officer tells Sukhi that if you die, then your daughter will also consider herself responsible for your death. And live your life like a burden. Now both of them change the thought of their suicide. It's morning now, the morning light falls on a Sukhi. The officer recognizes Sukhi and returns the money snatched from Sukhi. This is the same officer who snatched Sukhi's money and because of which Sukhi had thought of committing suicide.
Sukhi has entirely changed since this incident. Now he starts one more task with the work of moneylender, that is to write suicide letters to people, and whoever comes to write suicide letter Sukhi alter the thoughts of that person as well as his desire to commit suicide.
Now Sukhi is old, he has eliminated 42 persons' suicide wish in his life and gave them a new life. Existing his youngest daughter and the officer's boy live together, And Sukhi also stays with them. Sukhi also narrates this story to his grandchildren and tells that in life it is not necessary that every situation is with you., But giving up on those circumstances and committing suicide is not a solution. Now Sukhi's grandson starts writing suicide letters, but no one can commit suicide. Keeps looking for a right reason in the letter that what should they write so that they die a dignified death. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
